It is interesting to see that genrally more men are in the design industry, I think perhaps when options are givn to both boys and girls at education levels, There are numerous professions women are commonly associated with and graphic design does not always get advertised to them so they don't always know what's out there. On the other hand, men and boys are known to enjoy their games, gadgets and computer more and therefor look into the technology side of things more where options for careers reveal graphic design and it's industry.

I may be nowhere near the pro's in design but just give me a few years to catch up and maybe i'll make something of myself.

Look past the extremely non-feminine Alias i seam to have (hard to change your name when the name is known) and you'll find i'm actually a 17yr old female, who started back in April 08 with Elements 2.0.

Still a long way to go but the pays better than Asda :D

Myself and various colleagues have often wondered this.. nothing worse than 8 lads in a studio.

I reckon that females are far more materialistic and/or ambitious.

The female sees other opporunities in the office - ie Client Handler, Account Manager.. and the money's better.. and there's a car.. and it's profit related.. so they try it.

Meantime the men moan a lot - but stick it out, cos they CAN'T REALLY BE ARSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

As a postscript, I've known several women who a couple of years after taking the £££ see the 'carefree' and 'bohemian' lifestyle of the designers they left (who still haven't had a raise) behind as enviable..

..that's what i think anyway.
