Cars were still relatively new in the 1920s with large-scale production of the automobile beginning in the early 1900s. With lots of manufacturers competing to gain attention (and of course sales!) car technology grew rapidly. As always with any product – advertising was key and here we take a look at some car adverts from that era. Alot of these adverts are quite ‘wordy’ compared with today and the use of colour was very rare. Be inspired – why not experiment with some black & white designs?!

Its great to see how car adverts were in the 20′s. They used more text in these adverts then they do in today’s car adverts. now they rely more on the imagery to capture a viewers attention. It is great to see the that many of the brand logos have remained almost the same as the ones that are used today. Especially the Fiat logo, they have used the exact same typeface where Ford have slightly updated theirs.
