Happy 7th birthday to us

Attitude Design are celebrating 7 years in business.

We can't believe it. We are now 7 years old!

So much has changed since the beginning. Attitude was the freelance brand name of our founder and current Creative Director Matt Davies. He has actually used the Attitude name since 2002 to conduct freelance design. Attitude became a Limited company in March 2008. The business started in Matt's back bedroom in Carlton, Nottingham. Matt and his wife Ruth continued to grow the business from home before moving to a lovely little Lace Market studio, along with the employment of Lead Programmer Dan Clarke in 2010.

Two very quick, and very successful years flew by and the studio had grown to 6 team members. The following year Matt Scott, Dan Spencer, and Alexander Hughes all joined and the company underwent a more modern and fulfilling brand identity. Last year we welcomed 3 more employees in the shape of Mark Allfree, Amy Hill (all the way from Toronto) and Ruth Craddock. The team is now 9 in size and ever growing.

How things have changed since the early days when we were branding startup companies and small businesses. Now we work with corporate organisations like Boots the chemist and the Inter American Development bank. With new branding and web projects for organisations like Nottinghamshire County Council coming soon we look set to grow even more in the upcoming 8th year in business!

Some things never change

Matt's work ethic has always been the same. He had vast experience working for Creative agencies and more technical development companies. He found the creative agencies were great on making things look great - but projects lacked technical expertise. The Technical companies were super at making things work - but projects looked terrible with no marketing or brand strategy behind them. Matt set up Attitude with the belief that he could truly make a difference working on projects which both looked beautiful and which 'worked' well - be that because they connected to a wider marketing strategy or because they were well coded and thought through on a technical front. This ethic has been very successful with an emphesis on everything we do, even today, being  balance between "form and function".

This is at the core of who we are and what we do. And it always will be.

Raise a glass

So the next time you happen to be sat behind a glass of bubbly - raise it to us. A good old fashioned British success story, built on hard work, good values and great design.

Do you have a design or brand project we could help with? Why don't you help us celebrate our birthday by popping in to discuss it? Send us a message and we'd happily invite you in for a chat and a piece of birthday cake.
