A new look for outdoor activity RockBlok
The RockBlok is an exciting outdoor activity centre, located on Rutland Water’s North Shore. Offering a wide range of activities for individuals, families, school and corporate groups, the RockBlok needed new audience focused marketing approaches. The RockBlok approached us at the Attitude studio with an aim to create a set of brochures geared to their different target audience and a full website to showcase the services they offer.
Target Audience Brochures
Using the existing RockBlok logo, the Attitude Design studio began by designing a set of three brochures focussed on the three audiences; Corporate, School and Youth Groups and General (families and individuals combined). In the studio we found the process a great opportunity to take the existing logo and develop the RockBlok brand into a well established visual language. It was important to keep the brochures consistent yet focused on very different audiences. We solved this problem through the use of dedicated audience colours and design elements that retained consistency with the core visual style.
The printed product is fresh, adventurous and expresses the RockBlok personality and various activities.
Taking what we had created and utilizing the dedicated audience colours, The Attitude studio continued to craft the original RockBlok website, focusing on making an impact using “call to actions”, simplified navigation and large full width images. The design is founded on the 1140 grid, which results in a fluid movement and layout when viewed on smaller devices such as the iPad and iPhone. The great outdoor adventure theme was created using space, colours, rough edges and detailed elements such as the wooden “call us now” sign in the header, the compass point arrows and “Abseil down” button.
On the homepage we used a full width key message ticker to display vast photography and target audience focused “call to actions”. Three filter boxes use the four audience colours to navigate the user to the relevant pages and social media links and a quick contact form at the bottom of each page makes it easy to make contact or keep up to date.
Throughout the website, breakout boxes are used to display testimonials and navigate the users to key pages. Full width images fill the top area of all activity and information pages to continue the impact and spacious outdoor feel. A blog is used to boost web traffic and social media sharing by posting news, updates, special offers and services.
The site uses cutting edge technology which allows the same content to be displayed specifically depending on what device it is being used on. It is fully “responsive” and so looks fantastic on smart phones such as the iPhone, tablets such as the iPad as well as standard desktop sizes.
“Right from our first contact with the Attitude team, we’ve found them professional, prompt and cheerful. In fact, they’re a dream to have on board, compared with other design and web agencies we’ve dealt with. We’ve now used Attitude to produce brochures, a new website and a blog. They clearly know their stuff and they’ve delivered everything we’ve asked of them – and more – despite some tight deadlines and last-minute tweaks. Would definitely recommend them.”
